My Breaking Dawn Review (WARNING: Possible Spoilers)
Ok so I just got back from my midnight screening, and it's much later now that I would normally stay up but I feel like I am too anxious to wait to tell about it with ym SGers. Beware, this post is likely to contain some spoilers. I am pretty sure most of us made it to a midnight show and that PST is the last time zone to reach it but just in case if there are some SGers who could not make it at midnight you might want to wait until you do make it to show to read this.
First though on an off topic note if you saw my post in the thread containing Barcelona preimere pics of Rob, my grandmother was not well and in the hospital and she did die mid afternoon yesterday(the reason I hd brought this up in the other thread was because it might have lost me my midnight show because my mom may or may not have been up for it but we made it). My family was very broken but is ok with it because she was almost ninty and fought her way through bleak situations so many times before. She had to give up sometime, we all do. And thank you TRH37, I saw your reply over there and appricate it.
On with the film now!
First, I had heard from an interview posted here that there would be a glimpse into Edward's newborn years which had excited me but I had expected more than they gave. It was quite sexy though, Edward with newborn eyes OMR
I would be his victim anyday. When he was telling Bella that this new information might change her mind I was thinking "it just made me fall even more in love with you", hearing how he saw himself as such a monster in his victim's eyes despite that all of his victims had been murderers who probably would have ended up sentenced to death in prison at one time or another anyway. I don't remember the idea that he had rebelled against Carlisle though, was that in any of the books?

The wedding was really beautiful, Edward was the most gorgeous groom I have ever seen. *sigh* I loved their using 'Flightless Bird' as their wedding song, the same song they danced to at Prom. I don't understand a word of it hehe, but it's a pretty song.
Charlie was just adorable, he had these adorable puppy dog faces on pretty much the whole time. Billy Burke is so amazing at capturing his subtle but strong emotions about his passionate love for his daughter.
It even had some decent, anad very surprising humor in it with Emmett, loved the comment about her getting plenty of sleep because it will be the last lol. Gotta love Emmett. Next to RM's Tyler, he's second place for my ideal big brother.
Charlie's wedding speech, OMR HISTERICAL!
"I know Edward will be a good husband, I know this because I'm a cop...I know how to hunt...and I know how to use a gun!"

And I loved seeing Renee again, she's so cute.
I did not much care for how they did the scene where Jacob gets pissed and accidentally starts hurting Bella when he finds out that she intends to have sex with Edward. Edward's step in was not as defensive and sexy as in the book. He was supposed to say "get your hands off her!"

The honeymoon was a little less than I expected. The sex scene kind of disappointed me, damn PG13! RM was PG13 too but they still made it totally HOT. BD ended up showing not much more than the book did which had been nothing! I was confused too, she's supposed to be all bruised after the first sex and yet it appeared as though they showed multiple sex segments before he was pointing the brusing out. Maybe the confusion is owed to their having cut to a Jacob scene somewhere in there.
It also still bugs me that we got to see Edward untuck his shirt from his pants before the swim but then got a bunch of Bella prepping instead of a Rob strip.
I also did not care for her 'sex on the beach' dream, it so wasn't even sex, what the hell!? The part where she wakes and Edward is concerned was too mild, he's supposed to rock her in his arms and wipe her tears and then the second sex. This and the Edward stepping in between her and Jacob at the wedding were two of my favorite moments in the book and both were sooo toned down.
All and all though Rob was DAMN FUCKNIG GORGEOUS throughout the honeymoon area
, and I really hated Kristen more than ever because I wanted to be her sooo damn badly. I wanna be close to Rob and get to be all playful and intimate with him so badly!
I also liked the addional scene not from the book where Edward begs the woman housekeeper to give him information to save Bella from the fetes and she kept saying he was a demon and that he'd sentenced her to death. Her character was not that intune in the book but that was a very interesting addition and Rob speaking Portugese, SOOO SEXY!

During the pregnancy is where it gets both sad and weird for me. I am glad they kept the Jacob bits to a minimum, some or maybe all of you I am not entirely sure know that I barely survived reading Jacob's section, he was nothig but whiny and almost nothing interesting happened it was a lot of him on guard duty outside the Cullens and complaining about the fetus being dangerous and an abomination blah blah blah.
I however would actually have preferred a bit more Jacob to having to see Bella so horribly skinny like that especially the bath scene, OMR that was quite creepy for me. I actually found it a bit hard to watch. I have always been creeped out by a lot of illnesses and medical stuff. I so did not picture that in the book, although I suppose I should have. Oh my gosh, just oh my gosh. *cringes*
oh and they completely missed another one of my favorite moments, Rosalie serving Jacob a meal in a dog bowl
I felt so badly for my poor baby through his having to watch it too, the pain in his eyes and his face was so heart wrenching. This had to be Rob's most amazing Edward performance of the entire saga which probably makes sense seeing as it was the most emotional time for him. As usual my baby boy nailed it though, I am so proud of him. My heart just broke for Edward throughout the entire film because I agree with keeping the fetus being stupid and suicidal. The only part I loved was Edward hearing the baby and getting very loving, kissing her belly and laughing together in each other's arms. Awww, I want that with Rob(without the creepy skinniness and bone crushing obviously hehe). I can just picture how glowing he would be in RL since he really wants kids.
Especially during the birth his emotion was just amazingly heart breaking, and the way they filmed the whole thing was quite interesting and clever because really it's too disgusting PG13 or R.
And the ending OMR I got so gitty inside. I swear I knew throughout most of the anticpation for this film that it was going to cut off exactly as it did! With Bella opening her eyes as a newborn. I feel so Alice like. Oh speaking of Alice, the thing with her saying she can't see Bella's future anymore due to the fetus, was that in the book, I don't remember that? It doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Overall, it was a good film, even my mom was impressed and she disliked the book so much she didn't even finish reading it, she had her friend at work tell her the ending. From what I can remember it kept very very well to the book, but then again it's been at least two years since I read them. I am already ready for the second part. I am not sure how I can get through it again though like if my bestie wanted to see it out of curiosity as she does with the whole kinny Bella thing.
So what did you all think?
I have so got to get to bed now XP

Post a CommentRpattzsWife, first of all my condoleses for your grandmother I'm with you in this pain. And now about the movie OME OMR! I have to agree this is definitely rob's best performance as edward is just mind blowing what a great job he did. The wedding speeches were hilarious and very unexpected lol at charlie's and emmett's. Ok now the honeymoon I do agree it was kind of dissapointing, specially the 1st time they have sex it was kind of blah I personally found the second time after her nightmare more sensual. Ok I looooooved rob talking portuguese so sexy! Ok now the birth agh I was sitting at the edge of my seat throughout the whole bit! Rob's portrayal of "the burning man" was just phenomenal! Anyways great movie I'm soo happy!
Thanks for the condolences angel
wow I totally forgot to mention that, although I had every intention to, LOVED Rob speaking Portuguese, soooo sexy!
and the birth, Rob holding that infant *swoon*
I did a little editing in the post, I added a couple comments and had to correct some typos(it was so late and I was trying not to spend so much time on it).
You will never be able to get "inermint"' ummm I think you mean intimate with him! SORRY! he's in love with Kristen, plus you'd have to fight us other ten million women, not to mention that he has his pick.
Excuse me, was there really a need for you to be a bitch?
It's unknown whether or not they are dating(that little Kristen confession interview was her just her not wanting people to care what they are), and why wouldn't he pick me?
I am not going to argue with you though, I won't allow my thread to be tainted.
Okay girls, cool it. Let's all play nice. We all agree we loved the movie!
I agree Julieviggo, I am not a fan of arguing or civilized debates even really. I would rather the subject not be pressed and that we return to discussing the film. As I mentioned I do not want my thread tainted.
RpattzsWife - I loved the movie - Rob was amazing, of course! I agree - his Portuguese was wicked sexy! I actually enjoyed the emaciation of Bella because that's when "Cold" plays and it is one of my favorite songs in the soundtrack.
I am not familiar with that song, if I see the film again I will need to pay more attention to the songs. One of my uncle's said that a song he likes called "Vampire's of the Night' was supposed to be in this film. I don't know that song either though so I wouldn't have recognized it.
Speaking of which I never heard 'A Thousand Years'.
My sympathies to you and your family RpattzWife. Even if it was her time to go, it is never easy to lose a loved one.
"A Thousand Years" played very very softly in the background as Bella is saying goodbye to Renee and Charlie after the wedding. I almost missed it myself. Yes the part about Alice not being able to see Bella's future anymore was in the book. She explained in the book that she would get headaches and couldn't be near Bella. She couldn't see the future because of the baby. Baby being half human half vampire is described in the book as being as hard to "get a read on" as a werewolf for Alice. But I would have to agree I don't know what all the fuss was about the honeymoon scene....didn't seem like it was bordering on "R" rating to me at all.
It was so good! and actually ya Edward actually did talk about his past with Bella Idk if it was in Breaking Dawn but I remember him mentioning it..But overall it was amazing I was impressed with the imprinting really impressed actually, looking at Renessme in the furture was cute and seeing her born I seriously wanted to cry especially when Edward was hearing her and touching her belly.. I just didnt want it to end! I think the start to Part 2 is gonna be starting off with Bella as a newborn thats gonna be awesome! and vamp sex!! wohoo lol
But i seriously cant complain about this movie!
@wolves81372: Thanks for the condolences.
And thanks for the great answers. Ye another thing that makes little since in BD, if Alice can see a human's future and a vampire's(Eg Bella or her siblings), than why can't she see a half breed of both?
And yeah the honeymoon scene was below RM even and RM was PG 13 as well. It was still very romantic and adorable but the sex was over hyped. They made you expect something majorly sexy and then it's not much at all. Rob thrusting was exceeding PG13 my ass, he thrusted in RM(in an oh so passionate, tender and damn SEXY way
). They so did not need to remove Edward thrusting! Stupid brainless Summit!
Plus it was missing one of my favorite lines in the book:
Bella: The pillows survived this time
Edward: Unfortunately I can't say the same for your er...nightgown
Bella: too bad I liked that one
Edward: me too.
I would just die to be able to read a version of the sex from Edward's POV, I wanna know what it's like for him, what was going through his mind.
@Tereses24: Bleh the imprint I found that gross and weird. But then again I am not the hugest fan of Renesmee mostly because her creation was another one of the aspects of BD which made no sense.
I did however love Edward touching her belly and beginning to enjoy his expected baby. I would have really loved to know what was going through his mind when he first heard the fetus and when he saw the baby for the first time, held her. It so should have been Edward's POV instead of Jacob.
Thanks, RpattzsWife, I'm glad you saw my comment about your Grandmother.,your very welcome. Prayers to you and your family during this time. xo
I agree with all your comments on the movie.,so much....everything you stated is how I felt.
Also,.. Yes,...Alice actually does say that to Jacob on the steps when she tells him she has a headache.
I loved the movie so much....everything was very related to the book to a point.,as I read the book 11 times....and just finished again with part 1 before I went to see it last night.... l'm sad some of my favorite parts were cut short., and omitted all together., I wanted to see the Fido Dog Bowl parts as well., I think they spent to much of the film on the turning of the blood to ice thing. They could have cut that shorter and put more scenes in. Baby Renesemee was adorable. I love how they portrayed her.....ROB and KRISTEN out did themselves again. THEY WERE SIMPLY AMAZING!!!! I CRIED and Laughed....and cried some more. LOL!
I really hope that Stephanie continues with Midnight Sun and goes the whole way to end in Edward's POV....That would be awesome.
I know some people don't believe still that ROB AND KRISTEN are indeed together in real life., However, I have to disagree. I have believed it since the beginning. Their LOVE is one of kind. They just radiate love between them. Plus, if you look back at older pictures of New Moon you can see during interviews etc., that Kristen wears the GOLD WEDDING BAND LIKE RING on her middle finger back that far., and that is the same ring she wears now., and it's from Rob and is engraved Forever Rob or something like that. I do believe they are very private about their relationship and I'm glad that they are but I'm also glad that they are finally starting to show more affection in public. They are not the kind of people to show to much PDA and I respect them for that. xoxo I LOVE THEM BOTH and will follow their careers forever. xoxo Wish them all the love in the world and then some. THEY ARE THE PERFECT COUPLE!!! The kind everyone wish they have. Not to blow my own horn but My Husband and I have the same kind of LOVE so that is why I can see so much in them. I was lucky and met my husband at age 18 and I'm 37 now and still in LOVE like it was the first day.
Because I know it first hand. There are men in the world just like
ROB you just have to find them and don't stop until you do. Someday RpattzsWife you will meet your ROB!!! My husband is tall, Blue eyes and built just like Rob too.,but that is my kind of
man.,that's why I'm drawn to Rob myself.....My husband reminds me of Rob in a lot of ways....personality, soul, heart just everything., I feel blessed as well as I'm sure Kristen does to have
found someone so special to spend my life with. xoxox I wish that for all the girls on here.
Take Care Rpattzswife. If you need to tlk your friends are here for you.
xo
Im sorry hun for you loss.
Let me know if i you need to talk about sexy Rob to cheer you up! Glad you
liked the movie!
I loved it!
I loved it. Except the part of bella drinking the blood, i almost passed out and had to walk out of the theatre for a minute. OMG Rob was so good! Kristens acting (in my opinion) sucked! But Robs was so good! SO SEXY! I dont see how the sex scene was rated R at first, it wasnt even that steamy, but hey, some is better than none. And damn was Booboo Stewart (seth) Sexy and Hot to. Rob still won but mmmmm 2 of the sexiest guys on earth in one movie
@TRH37: Thanks for being understanding about my views of Rob and Kristen. I have never heard anything about this wedding band like ring, but how do you know that it is from Rob and engraved? I did hear that they share one such ring which came from Rob's role in Bel Ami which Twifans a long time ago had also tried to pass off has being two separate wedding bands that might mean they are married.
I don't mean to get crazy about it as as much as I don't want them to be a couple I have awareness that they could be, really I do. As pathetic as this will sound Rob is so far the only man I have ever loved, from what he shows in public he is everything I idealize in a man for me(with a bonus of being incredible gorgeous). So it can be difficult for me to think of him with Kristen and probably with anyone else too. I wasn't liking when tabloids were saying at one time had had a fling with Nikki(yes Reed).
And I want MS SOOOO badly as well. The draft is so amazing, it made me fall even more in love wit Edward. His boyish adoring love for her is soooo heart melting.
I hope someone can change her mind, I hear her mom had been trying to, hopefully she is still trying. I think it's totally unfair that it's been like two years since the leak and she's still refusing to do it and yet she wrote Bree Tanner, and I don't get why anyone would give a rats ass about her. XP
@Bri:
You are one of my best friends on here, thanks s much for your thoughts.
I have always hated Kristen's acting which I swear is not in any way connected to my hate for her relationship with Rob. I truly see no emotion and laziness in her acting and the same performance in every role(although I have only seen her in two others I don't care much to actually go after her films like I do Rob's).
Seth is the best of the wolves, I have loved him since he and Edward bonded over killing Victoria and Riley. That was so awesome. I wished they had kept their fist/snout high five bump from the book hehe. For his age he has always shown to be the most mature and open minded about the Cullens.
I didn't mind Bella drinking the blood in fact in the book the one time where I loved Jacob was when he realized that the fetus wanted blood. I knew that from the time she barfed the second time on isle Esme(I got spoiled by something on the internet while still on Eclipse, I knew she was preggers, although I likely would have known anyway, it was pretty obvious). So yeah it annoyed me that no one especially Carlisle could see that it's so obvious.
*hugs you both*
@TR37: I hope someday to find a Rob and have a love like you do, I am 25...wow next week already and as I said above Rob is the only man I have ever loved. I seem to be pretty invisible guys don't seem to notice me. I want a intimate and special love like Edward and Bella(I think Rob has said that he wants and E&B love too, how wonderful).
@Rpattzswife. You will def. find someone like Rob someday. I have faith.
I don't think
you'll invisible....you just haven't met YOUR ROB yet., that's all. It will happen when you least expect it. xo Believe me. It will. Be patient. Good things come to those who wait.
Happy 25th Birthday, If I don't get on your post by next week. I'm sure I'll see something from you by then. But, Still Happy Birthday.
I have to say I do love Kristen's acting. I've seen ALL her movies. From the time she first started. I think to a point ALL actors act the same in every movie. That's why you LOVE them or Hate them. In all honesty., even when I watch Rob in other movies I see Edward in WFE and Remember Me as well. Same with all his older movies., before Twilight Like Haunted Airman, How to Be....I see a bit of Edward and Edward wasn't even done yet. So, I just have to say I LOVE THEM BOTH!!! xoxo I believe they are both wonderful talented exceptional people. So, glad God gave us both of them. xoxo
@Rpattzwife. About the ring. Yes, she has been wearing that same ring since before New Moon time.,because she had the short hair style in most of the photos back then that was left from Runaways Movie. I saw an article in one of the Teen magazines my daughter has that showed the ring up close and you could read the "ever Rob" on it, in the picture. I don't remember which magazine, but I've also seen other posts about it through the year. Plus, she has a necklace that is from Rob supposedly.,that she always wears... But, there are lots of pictures of her dating pretty far back on this ring.
xoxo It's just a plain Gold Band....Middle finger.
xoxo
Hope that helps.
@RpattzsWife, aww thanks! Same back to you. You are one of my best friends on here. Sorry i have not talked to you in a long time, i have been so busy but im not doing any shows right now so i should be on more. And talking more.
Guess it all depends on the person.
Wow, her drinking the blood really didnt bother you? My friends who saw it with me were both disgusted. I have heard the birthing scene mad a lot of people sick but i didnt bother me at all.
@TRH37:
Thanks, I should be around on my birthday but I don't know what I would post.
As for Rob's acting, I don't see that in him at all, I think he gives a unique performance that is appropriate for each character he does. He studies his characters so deeply and really gets into their heads and souls. Like Dali was completely unique and amazing, and there is an quote on IMDB of him saying how he studied several bios on Dali.
Kristen did not even read the Twilight saga when she took the role of Bella. I think she still hasn't, she implies so in a recent cast interview. Taylor had admitted on EW recently that both he and Kristen "play themselves in the movies" which is not how you act.
That's the difference I see in them; Rob just seems so much more dedicated and full of life about his acting. Where as she seems to hate events from what I have seen. She always seems like she wants to run away and hide.
And no offense because this applies more to Twilight haters, but I hate when people brand Rob with Edward. How they say they can't look at him without seeing or thinking of Edward or "He'll always be Edward". Like I said mostly haters do this, you meant it differently I understand that. This is why I am glad the saga is over although I will miss it a lot, so that Rob can continue to shed Edward from his image and show people what he can do. I believe WFE was a wonderful step towards that. Even my mom's eyes were opened more when we saw WFE(not that she didn't like his acting in Twilight).
@Bri: well not only do you not really see the blood, but what can I say I am a bit of a vamp at heart hehe. And of course we have known since the beginning that Bella is(I mean remember the stuff revealed in the first book, she's pale even for a human, she can smell blood, it's almost like she had a vamp past life or something). And since I knew all along that it's what the baby needed it actually relieved me. Now if only it could have restored her weight, that's what was creepy for me like I said.
The birthing scene made a lot of people sick? How? they did a good job of keeping the accuracy while keeping the gory details out. You don't see anything except blurry flashes of faces because it's her POV. I liked the turnout, although I could have done without the above shot of her pretty much dead creepy skinny body.
Aw, no...not at all..But, I just mean that he is such a GREAT actor that no matter what part he plays I see a little of himself in each part.,to be a actor I feel they each bring a part of themselves into each part that is what makes them believable. I love the way Rob, Kristen both study their parts and become their parts. I know a lot of people here seem not to like Kristen...I don't know why I think of her generation just as Rob has said himself many many many times., that she is the BEST of her generation. I believe that as well. I think she devotes so much of herself to her parts and becomes each person to a point. She gets so engrossed that it spills into her normal life. I love her acting. I love Robs acting. I love them both. I think they are both very amazing at what they do for all of us....no matter what name or movie they are in.
I'm not branding and never would brand him as Edward alone.,but seriously who doesn't love Edward and they way he portrayed him. He made Edward. Just the fact that I love how he portrayed him and I see his acting skills and style from Edward in other things that he has done. Even before Edward existed. Same with Kristen. None of them read the books until they got the scripts, none of them even knew what Twilight was or even heard of it. They have all admitted it.
I feel to be a good actor they have to bring themselves into the part a little sometimes more than other parts., to really portray the character to the fullest. I think their facial expressions and their style is carried between roles. def. I love that about them. It makes the role more REAL! At least to me. No one has to agree with me on this. But, this is why I love them both so much. Because I love watching them whatever they do., because they both take their roles so seriously and study and take to heart what they are doing. That's all I'm saying. I Love them because they are themselves in these roles. No matter name they are given. I love each role., because they are ROBERT AND KRISTEN it's as simple as that. They could play the meanest or sweetest role and I'd still love them., because I know that they were playing something that they themselves believe in or they wouldn't do it. They pick such great roles. GREAT roles. They both have said that numerous times., that they only pick roles that mean something to them personally. So, that's why I love them.
Sorry, so long. I just don't want people to think I'm branding anyone. I love them because they and THEMSELVES and bring so much of themselves to every part. That is true acting to me. Who wants someone who is fake and unfeeling. I wish I looked like Kristen she is so Beautiful. xoxo She is amazing. Rob feels the same., plus he has liked her and had a crush on her before he ever got the part as Edward., he admitted that years ago. I'm just glad that they were compatible and fell in Love and found each other at a young age., because now they have the rest of their lives to make each other happy and love each other. xoxox It def. is a great thing. I was married at 21 and my husband was 23 and we will be celebrating 17 yrs married August 2012 and together 20 years. We still feel like newlyweds., and I'm sure they will in 20 years too! It the fairy tale love and I'm so BLESSED to have found it so young. I only hope that others have that kind of luck. I'd rather be lucky in love than have riches any day.
) xoxo
For me it's more like he brings his devotion and love for his work into all his roles perhaps that is what you are feeling. Sorry I do not agree about Kristen, and I kind of hate that Rob thinks that. I am sorry but of all I have seen she seems lazy and emotionless in acting and like she wants to run and hide when at events. Alright though seriously enough of that. I am going to shut up about Kristen's acting and relationship with Rob now.
Of course I love his portrayal as Edward, I would not be here right now if I didn't. It breaks my heart but I did not know of him until Twilight. I can't believe I could have looked right past him as adorable Cedric, in fact when I first saw him as Edward in the trailer I did not even realize right away that it was him I had no idea who he was, I'm sorry baby
(it was also the first I had seen or heard of Kristen and well all of the cast). The trailer for the first film
made me read the books when I had only had mild interest in giving them a try(I was hooked right away). And when I saw the film for the first time he mesmerized me. That's when I realized how
gorgeous he was and his performance was so wonderful. He stole my heart that night.
So you see if it were not for Rob's amazing Edward I am not sure I would even have become a Twilight fan. I had heard that Zac Efron had auditioned for the role and God am I glad he did not get it, I don't think he's a good actor. He certainly would have turned me off from wanting to give it a try.
Rob is the reason I met all of you here at SG and made such wonderful friends of you all and he made me want love more than I already did with a man like him. I will always love him and Edward *kisses Rob*
